Operation ARGUS is fast-paced, thoughtful and personal. An insightful story that touches the mind, the heart and creates a sense of intrigue in the search of the truth.
While sitting in the Rhu Inn in Scotland one wintry night, Willy Mitchell stumbles across a group of men, in civilian clothes, full of adrenalin, like a group of performers coming off a stage, wherever that stage had been that night. To the watchful eye it was clear that these men were no civilians. Close knit, banter and beer, yet completely alert as each of them checked him out as they looked at his eyes and into his soul. Willy Mitchell would learn in time that this group would become referred to as call sign Bravo2Zero.
Operation ARGUS is a story of fiction based around true events as five former, and one serving, Special Air Service soldiers converge on San Francisco for a funeral of their good friend to find his apparent heart attack is not as it seems. A similar concoction of Polonium-210 was used to assassinate Litvinenko in London years previously.
Willy Mitchell was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He spent a lot of time in bars as a kid growing up, in his youth and into adulthood. He always appreciated the stories. Some true, some imagination and some delusional. But these stories are true. Willy Mitchell was there!
A shipyard worker, he headed down from Scotland to Yorkshire with his family to work in the steel mills of Yorkshire. He retired and turned to writing some of the tales that he had listened to over all those years and focused on bringing those stories to life.
Operation Argus is Willy Mitchell's debut book and a story of international intrigue and cunning.
